Go for a Walk Is Here

You already know you should walk more. The hard part isn't the walking — it's walking the same five blocks you've walked a thousand times.

Today we're fixing that. Go for a Walk is out now on the App Store. Free. No account. No catch.

Three routes from your front door. A different direction every time.

Tell Go for a Walk how far you want to go — 3 kilometres, 45 minutes, whatever fits your day. It builds three loop routes that start and end at your door, each heading a different direction. Every one takes you down streets you haven't seen, through corners of your own area you've never noticed. No "popular routes." No "everyone's favourite park loop." Just honest-to-goodness new streets, generated on the spot.

Walk your way

A walk isn't just a distance. Some days you want trees. Some days you want espresso. So every route is yours to shape.

  • Green space — routes that thread through parks and nature
  • Coffee stop — a café halfway through, because why not
  • Dog parks — for the walks that aren't actually about you
  • Playgrounds — for parents on the move
  • Landmarks — the statue, the mural, the spot you've been meaning to check out
  • Flat or hilly — depending on how your legs feel

Tap what you want. Skip what you don't. Three personalized loops appear in seconds.

"45 minutes" means 45 minutes for you

Connect Apple Health and Go for a Walk uses your actual walking pace to time every route. Pick Duration mode, say "I have 45 minutes," and you get a walk that fits your legs — not a generic 5-km-per-hour average. Tell it how long you have; it figures out how far that is.

Eyes up. Phone away.

Turn-by-turn voice navigation keeps your phone in your pocket and your eyes on your neighborhood. Spoken cues, haptic nudges, automatic rerouting when you wander off the path. This is a walk, not a screen session.

Export to Strava, Garmin, or anywhere else

Every route exports as a GPX file with full elevation data and points of interest. Send it to Strava, Garmin Connect, Apple Watch, or anything else that reads GPX. If you like to log your walks, log away.

No account. No tracking. No ads.

We don't run servers. We don't collect your location. There's no newsletter, no streak pressure, no social feed to doomscroll. Your walk history, preferences, and routes stay on your device — full stop. Open the app, pick a route, close the app, go walk.

See your progress without seeing your friends'

Finish a walk and you get the numbers that matter: distance, duration, average pace, the neighborhood you explored. A weekly card quietly adds it all up — walks taken, total distance, time on your feet. No leaderboards, no kudos buttons, no comparison. Just you, getting out the door more often.

Step outside
