Plan It Anywhere. Run It Again. Detour When You Must.

Random Run has one job: hand you a running route you've never seen. But "random" was never supposed to mean "rigid" — and three recent updates quietly gave you a lot more say in where, when, and how you run. Time to say them out loud.

Plan a route from anywhere

Until now, every route started where you were standing. Great for spontaneity; useless for planning tonight what you'll run tomorrow morning from your hotel.

You can now pick any starting point on the map. Drop the pin on your hotel, your office, the trailhead parking lot, your parents' place across the country — and generate routes from there as if you were already standing on the doorstep. When you show up the next morning, the route is waiting.

If you travel, this is the feature you've been asking for. Finding running routes in an unfamiliar city used to mean scrolling a map in bed hoping the streets are as nice as they look. Now it's: pick the hotel, pick 5K, pick your favourite of three, sleep.

Run it again

Randomness has a flip side: sometimes the app deals you a route so good you want it back. Now you can have it. Tap any run in your history to run that route again, and your favourite routes get a quick-start row right on the home screen. One tap from opening the app to navigating a loop you already know you love.

New route when you want variety, known-good route when you want comfort. Both one tap away.

Wrong turns are no longer a problem

This one's been in the app since spring, and it deserves more fanfare than it got. Random Run automatically reroutes you when you drift off course. Miss a turn while your favourite song hits, and the app quietly bridges you back to your loop — new directions in your ears, updated line on the map, no drama.

And when going off course is the point — a closed sidewalk, a flooded path, a street festival between you and home — there's a Detour button. Tap it and Random Run builds you a different way back to your starting point, avoiding the way it originally planned. The run keeps its shape; only the obstacle gets cut out.

One more touch: when you start a route, a direction-of-travel arrow now shows you which way to face on your first step. Small thing. Saves you from the classic thirty-metre jog in the wrong direction.

Still the same deal

Everything above is in the latest free update — no account, no subscription, and your location never leaves your device. Whether tomorrow's run starts at your front door or a hotel four time zones away, Random Run is free on the App Store for iPhone and Apple Watch. Go somewhere new. Or somewhere good. Your call now.
